My name is Alexandra Petherick (although I often go by Ally) and I’m in my fifth and final year of a Bachelor of Commerce/Bachelor of Laws, majoring in Food and Agribusiness. Throughout my time at Deakin University I have been fortunate to have had many opportunities for leadership, experiences that have shaped me into the person I am today.

 

For me, leadership is a commitment to empowering others to achieve their goals whilst fostering a collaborative and inclusive environment. It's about more than just guiding individuals or a team – it's about nurturing strengths, working on weaknesses, embracing challenges, and orchestrating growth. My journey has led me to discover that my ability to lead is constantly evolving, but I thrive as long as I know I am having a positive impact on others.

 

As I come to the end of my degree I look back with gratitude on every opportunity including my time as a leader on the DUSA O’Camp (2020-2023), Deakin Commerce Society (2019-2023), DUSA Student Council (2022-2023), Mocktail Making Workshop (2021-2023), and Study Abroad (Internship in Malaysia 2023).
